Over the last 10 years, I have probably played close to 200 weddings... in cathedrals, country churches, cow pastures, and... on Caribbean islands.
There is nothing more regal, ceremonial, or exciting than the sound of Scottish bagpipes.
Here are some questions people often ask as they consider this unique musical touch for their wedding. |
Q. Our families are not Scottish or Irish. Does that matter?
A. No, many people simply love the sound of the bagpipes. |
Q. When would you play?
A. For the grandest effect, I recommend the pipes for the entrance of the bride. Usually I start in the back, and precede the bride down the aisle by a few paces. This gives the music a natural crescendo and heralds the bride's entrance. |
Q. Would you also play as the bride and groom leave the service?
A. Most often, yes. |
Q. Are there other times the pipes are played?
A. If desired, I play for 4 to 5 minutes outside as guests are leaving for the reception. These are all merely suggestions. I will work with you to make your "pipe dreams" come true. |
Q. What pieces of music do you play?
A. I thought you'd never ask. Below are seven selections that people seem to love. These samples were recorded with pipe organ, but all can be played by the bagpipes alone. See which ones you like. |
Q. How can we contact you?
A. Call me at (615) 228-0760 or send me an e-mail: jaytdawson@comcast.net. |
Q. What are you wearing under that kilt?
A. I'LL NEVER TELL! |
